Despite everyone's best efforts, we wrapped up today with still more to do. The yard preparation took longer than expected: we didn't really start moving dirt until about 1:30 after having started just before 9:30. Found lots of new boulders to add to the retaining wall, too. sad All in all we accomplished:
  • tore up the existing kooch grass sod
  • pulled all the miscellaneous weeds
  • cleared and levelled both sides of the house and the back
  • filled the back corner and capped it with sand
  • spread topsoil over about half of the area
A big thank you to Dad, Mom, Evan, Stephanie and Tammy. A extra thank you to Terry for his time on the Kubota, and a little thank you to Zachary and Miranda for being good today. smile

Also thanks to Mom for providing lunch and beverages. Kept us all as hydrated as possible.

Tomorrow, I'll spread some of the topsoil which has been dumped but not levelled, and work to further prep the back corner and the slope to the retaining wall. Monday night, Terry will come back and move the rest of the topsoil.
